Actuation Technologies and Robotic Systems

The group’s research objectives are the conception and practical validation of methodologies, tools as well as smart-material and alternative-energy technologies for the development of: 1) energetically-autonomous robots which are safe, sustainable, affordable and disposable; 2) ergonomic robots that physically interact with both humans and unknown constrained environments; and 3) mechatronic systems that enable viable yet affordable harvesting and management of renewable energy from the environment.
