is Assistant Professor of Mechatronics at University of Pisa and Researcher on
Control and Automation at SSSA since 2003. Carlo Alberto Avizzano is currently
the Director of PERCRO (PERCeptual ROBotics)
Laboratory of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa – Italy.

Since 1993,
he has been involved in all the projects carried out by PERCRO Laboratory,
playing a fundamental role in activities concerning teleoperation, robotics for medicine and surgery,
mechatronics, haptic devices design and control, analysis and modelling of
human behaviour, Virtual Reality systems, design and control of driving
simulators and autonomous vehicles. He is currently involved in several
European and National research projects of great relevance. In particular, he
is responsible of the SKILLS Integrated Project (www.skills-ip.eu), coordinated
by Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna. The SKILLS IP deals with the analysis, archiving
and transmission of high-level motor skills by means of Multimodal Interfaces,
Robotics and Virtual Environments.
He has authored more than one hundred publications on journals and conference proceedings of high scientific relevance.
