Valentina Colla

Valentina Colla is Technical Research Manager at PERCRO, where she works since 1997.

V. Colla got her Master Degree in Telecommunication Engineering at the University of Pisa in 1994 and joined Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna since 1995. She got her Ph.D in Robotics at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in January 1998. Valentina Colla joined PERCRO in 1997. Presently she is Technical research Manager at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna. Through the years she coordinated almost 40 research projects, mostly funded by the EU through the Research Found for Coal and Steel (RFCS). She is a member of the European Steel Technology Platform (ESTEP) and she is a member of the technical committee TGS9 of the RFCS. She is also a member of the steering commitee of the Italian Steel technology Platform (ACIES). Her research activity deals with industrial automation, with a particular focus on the steelmaking industry as, since 2002, she coordinated a research group named Steel and Industrial Automation Division inside PERCRO. Her personal research interests include process automation and process control techniques as well as application of statistics and artificial intelligence techniques for data analysis, process simulation, monitoring and control, in the perspective of the development of intelligent manufacturing systems. She is also developing research work in the field of mathematical modelling of industrial process (holistic modelling included).
