PURE-FORM
Visualization system
The realism of the virtual simulation is greatly increased by employing a stereoscopic visualization of the digital models.
This is accomplished through a projection screen that is back-projected with passive polarized beams of light. By simply wearing a pair of passive glasses, multiple users can feel the depth of visualized objects, that can be really perceived as floating in the 3D space, in front of the screen.
The graphics engine of Pure Form is very flexible, since it gives the possibility to render high-complexity 3D contents on non homogenous platforms and media, such as PC-based visualisation systems, high-end CAVE-like installations and normal web-pages or CDROM with minimal or no code configuration changes. To achieve this goal, a modular rendering engine, the VREngine, was developed initially under Windows PCs, and, once it had reached a stable configuration, the porting to the other platforms was started.
