FORMAT

Within the FORMAT project a machinery section for the on-line acquisition of high resolution color images of marble and granite shells has been designed. The design activities of the project permitted the fulfilment of the mechanical device and the implementation of the user control interface as well as the realization of the database application for the management of the acquired images.

The project was carried out in collaboration with Consorzio COSMAVE and several enterprises of the Versilia area operating in the field of marble finishing.

At the present some mechanical enterprises are analyzing the project results and evaluating the opportunity of building and commercializing the first prototype of the system.

REW1000

Starting from a collaboration with A.Celli S.p.A., the REW1000 project was oriented to the analysis, design and realization of an innovative machine for the rewinding of film stretch.

The main innovation was in the reduction of the passive time by a continous working cycle that allowed to improve the productivity of the machine up to 4 times with respect to the other systems on the market. Such an inovation in the working cycle, obtained by the implementation of the continous cut of the film, involved the redesign of the whole machine's architecture.

The design process was integrated with simulation activities in order to evaluate the kinematics and dynamic performances, to check the mechanical interference and to verify the mechanical strength.

TAU-SIEMENS

The project, carried out in partnership with TAU Controllo Processi S.p.A. belonging at the Siemens Group, concerned a feasibility study for the realization of an innovative method for goods handling automation in the papermill context. The technical feasibility and the economic sustainability of a teleoperated solution was analyzed as a different choice with respect to the total automation.

BPPE

The BPPE project concerns the development of a robotic cell for the fatigue test of an helicopter door, in collaboration of PEC Italia s.r.l. and AGUSTA S.p.A..

The task of the cell is the execution of 500’000 opening and closing cycles in order to test the fatigue resistance of the door components and to evaluate the forces acting on the door handles during the cycle.

The testbench is actuated by two COMAU robots and controlled by a PLC. The communication among the system components is based on the Profibus DP network.

A novel tri-axial parallel kinematic force sensor has been developed by PERCRO to measure the forces exchanged between the robotic gripper and the door handle.
